The Weezer/FooFighters show was last Tuesday and it was awesome. Although, it should be mentioned that we didn't stay for FooFighters because of work/school, the unreal heat in the assembly hall (Weezer even posted about this on their site), the fact that neither of us are really big FooFighters fans, and finally, that the Weezer performance was simply so satisfying, we were ready to leave. The setlist included five songs from the original blue album, one song from Pinkerton (El Scorcho, I was hoping for Pink Triangle, Hi Matt :-p), four songs from the green album, five songs from make believe, one Foo Fighter song, and one Blur song (Song 2). Rivers went into the crowd and played Island in the Sun solo on the acoustical, and at one time during the show, all four members of Weezer were playing the drums. Rivers even played drums for a song or two, letting Pat sing the lyrics. It was awesome!
We're heading to Columbia this next weekend, staying at the Motel 6, so that we can accomodate our friend Parker. It should be alot of fun, I think Anna and I are both looking forward to it.
Speaking of Anna, she really went above and beyond this year for my birthday presents. One of the highlights is this awesome Lowepro camera bag. I hadn't asked for a camera bag or anything, but I think she knew I was needing one. It has plenty of room for my future expansions, its really well padded, and even has its own rain slick (comes out of one of the pockets). I love it.
In other camera news, my 50mm 1.4 finally arrived and I can't imagine ever putting the kit lens (EF-S 17-55mm 3.5-5.6) back on the camera anytime soon. The razor thin Depth of Field at 1.4-2.0 is going to take some getting used to, especially in close quarters where the autofocus tends to get a little confused. The nice thing about this new lens is the full time manual focusing that lets me give it a little help when autofocus does do something goofy. Besides all the nice dof control, it seems pictures from this lens just come off of the camera sharper and with more contrast. That's a good thing too. Once or twice while I've been composing with it, I've reached to zoom in or out, now if I can just get myself to move my feet instead I'll be all set. Next on my equipment list is a flash! Here are some pictures of my getting used to this new found control over my depth of field.
